Lunchtime Installation Week at the KU School of music electronic music studio
University of Kansas, Murphy Hall
Room 412
Lawrence, KS
I will be running a series of installations in the newly renovated electronic music studio at KU school of music.
There will be 5 total installations, everyday during lunchtime between 11:45am and 12:45pm. So if you have a few minutes during that time and are at school definitely swing by to check it out! The electronic music studio is located on the 4th floor of Murphy hall, room 412.
The installations primarily focus on the audio spatialization possibilities of the new speaker system in the studio but you might also see a self playing MIDI player piano and during the last installation audience members will actually be able to perform music themselves in the space through their phones via local networking.

Newark Arts Festival
Hill Hall, ramps (Rutgers University-Newark), 360 Dr M.L.K. Jr. Blvd, Newark, NJ 07103
7-8pm
About 'Do You See/Do You Hear?'
The student protest movement of the late 60's arose to demand free speech inclusion and representation. As the national dialogue around pressing social issues evolved, the figurative and literal landscape was shifting rapidly. One thing that becomes apparent is the choice to see or not see. Drawing inspiration from the particular history of protest at Rutgers University-Newark, noted electronic composers and performers HPRIZM and Jeff Snyder present the electronic Audio Visual composition entitled "Do You See/Do You Hear?" in collaboration with the Princeton Laptop Orchestra (PLOrk) for the Newark Arts Festival.
I'll be playing guitar with Florant Ghys and Jason Treuting. The performance is not a sit down performance so you can feel free to come by for however long you want.

I'm thrilled to by part of Jiji's awesome new program that includes music by many living composers including Arvo Pärt, Ben Verdery, Paul Lansky, Steve Reich and Leo Brouwer.
My piece is inspired by the feeling of floating in the ocean when it's completely dark. The black ocean waves moving your body unpredictably.
This verse from the poem 'hví viltu, andsvala' by Jónas Hallgrímsson explains this feeling more eloquently:
Hví viltu meina
manni sjóleiðum
Hæðir Herthu líta?
Dökkt er á djúpi
dimmar öldur rísa
mig langar landsýn í
why would you refuse
a man at sea
to behold Hertha's Hills?
the depths are dark
dim waves rise
I want to see land.
